Lori Moore is Chair of the Sanford Burnham Prebys Board of Trustees, where she has served since 2023. A registered nurse and fifth-generation San Diegan, she is a member of the Cushman family, whose philanthropic tradition spans generations.
Moore serves as President of The Cushman Foundation, which supports a broad range of community and humanitarian causes. She oversees the foundation’s operations and manages its equity assets.
Her commitment to health and caregiving began with her nursing career. She graduated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse from Maric College in 1984 and earned her registered nursing degree from Saddleback College in 1986. She worked at Saddleback Hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Villa Pomerado, and Pomerado Hospital in specialties ranging from oncology and intensive care to maternity, neonatal intensive care, and gerontology. Since 2011, she has served as an 11th-hour hospice volunteer.
Moore is a member and past Chair of the Sharp HealthCare Board of Directors, where she has served on numerous committees. She also serves on the Quality, Safety, and Medical Affairs Committee at Rady Children’s Hospital–San Diego. In addition, she is a director at Cush Plaza Properties, a San Diego-based commercial real estate firm, and co-manager of Selma Investments.
In 2019, Moore was named Director of the Year in Corporate Governance, Not-for-Profit, by the Corporate Directors Forum. She has also championed the development of Sharp Hospice Care’s fourth hospice home in Poway, Moore MountainView Hospice Home.
Outside of her professional and philanthropic commitments, Moore enjoys cooking, traveling, kayaking, scuba diving, and deep-sea fishing. Above all, she is incredibly proud of her family and treasures the time she spends with her parents, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her family is her greatest source of pride and joy.
