About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with an invasive form of the breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. How are researchers working to stop these trends and save the lives of those with breast cancer?

Join us for a unique look inside the lab of Svasti Haricharan, PhD, assistant professor in the Aging, Cancer and Immuno-oncology Program, as we uncover how scientists approach breast cancer research and then how this research leads to new breakthroughs in treatments and therapies for patients.

We will examine breast cancer from the macro level, to basic and translational research. This is an exclusive chance to see how we uncover critical information on cancer and then how we take these discoveries to the next step in finding treatments and cures.

• Why do different populations respond differently to treatments and how can we ensure better outcomes for all patients? Testing racial disparities in tumor and breast tissue to develop targeted treatments based on the specific patient.
• Identify a tumor marker that may be used to predict which breast cancer patients will experience resistance to endocrine therapy. How can we get the right treatments to the right patients as soon as possible?
• Uncover a new approach to selecting patients for therapy that targets HER2, a protein that promotes the growth of cancer cells, to help avoid disease relapse or progression of endocrine-sensitive disease.
