Dr.Helen Eckmann is a three diagnosis survivor of breast cancer. The first diagnosis was when she was 42, the second diagnosis at 50 and the most recent diagnosis was at 65. During treatment Helen received her doctorate degree from the University of San Diego. Her dissertation was entitled “You are with someone who is a fighter.” She analyzed the process by which cancer patients become cancer survivors.
Helen has been married to her husband Jim Eckmann for 35 years. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Business and Professional Studies at Brandman University. She teaches Sustainability, Strategy, Supply Chain and Innovation for the BBA and MBA programs.

Helen has worked as an active member of our Community Advisory Board for over 20 years. She has been recruited by the Department of Defense to be a reviewer for breast cancer grants.
