Annual Biomedical Research Symposium
The 24th Annual Biomedical Research Symposium brought together postdocs, graduate students, staff scientists, administrators, and faculty for a day that celebrated discovery and community. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues, explore the breadth of research at Sanford Burnham Prebys, and cheer on our early-career scientists.
The 2025 keynote speaker was Antentor O. Hinton, Jr., PhD, Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University, who shared insights from his research and experiences in advancing biomedical discovery.
The symposium featured short talks and a dynamic poster session highlighting innovative work across our programs. Attendees enjoyed opportunities for cross-center networking and new collaborations, with enthusiastic participation from trainees, staff scientists, administrators, and faculty across the Institute.
A highlight of the day was the presentation of the Mentor of the Year Award for Postdoctoral Training, recognizing faculty who foster supportive environments and champion early-career researchers. Sanjeev Ranade, PhD, of the Center for Cardiovascular and Muscular Diseases, received this year’s award for cultivating a collaborative lab culture that inspires confidence, critical thinking, and a lasting passion for science.
