This brief seminar will help us all understand larger conversations around gender, identity and self-expression. We’ll learn histories around concepts such as pronoun use, and discuss possible ways to make people feel more included as we navigate ideas of gender and personal identity.

T.J. Tallie (he/they) is an Associate Professor of History and the Director of the Africana Studies Minor at the University of San Diego. He specializes in histories of colonialism, race, violence, and settlement. They are the author of Queering Colonial Natal: Indigeneity and the Violence of Belonging in Southern Africa. Tallie’s current research looks at questions of marriage, belonging, and the family in a variety of settler societies in the nineteenth century.
