Mike Afshar serves as Director of Information Technology at Sanford Burnham Prebys, where he oversees cybersecurity, networks, business applications, systems applications and high-performance computing for AI projects.
He brings more than 30 years of experience in technology and IT, with a focus on digital transformation and cybersecurity. Prior to joining Sanford Burnham Prebys, he held roles at The Lundquist Institute.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Tehran and has earned more than 20 professional certifications from Microsoft, Cisco and AWS.
