Ruth Claire Black's Bio
Ruth Claire Black is an experienced university administrator and faculty member with a career focus in online education. Since 2018, Ruth has served as the lead faculty for the MSc in Digital Health Leadership from the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. Prior to joining Imperial, Ruth was a visiting scholar for technology and innovation at Namseoul University in Seoul, Korea. From 2011 to 2016, Ruth served as Executive Director of Online Innovation and Online Education for the California State University System, where she led system-wide initiatives on online program design, development and delivery.
Ruth was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. Upon completing her cancer treatments and surgeries Ruth was drawn to the work of the Cancer Center and the Community Advisory Board. In addition to her participation on the Community Advisory Board, Ruth is a consumer reviewer for the Department of Defense’s Breast Cancer Research Program and in 2020 Ruth was appointed as the Consumer Representative to the FDA’s National Mammography Quality Assurance Advisory Committee.
